Around the Art World in 52 Weeks - Yassine Mekhnache, France
Thursday, July 30 2015
If you like colour or enjoy an explosion of colour, you would like to know about Mekhnache. There is nothing subtle about his work – the colour, the scale and the composition. Mekhnache often works on wall-sized canvases to create his large-scale paintings. He was born in Lyon and worked there as a graffiti artist before becoming one of France’s young emerging talents in the fine art world. In 2006, his work was recognized by a French art critic when he was only 26 years old.
Mekhnache has had solo shows in various cities including Lyon, Paris, London, Istanbul, Marrakech and Berlin. He is currently represented by Krampf Gallery in Istanbul, Catherine Ahnell Gallery in New York and David Bloch Gallery in Marrakech.
The use of colour is at the disposal of almost anyone and yet not that many can create like Meknache.
